Popular dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has defended Shatta Wale on why he failed to appear in court last month.
Stonebwoy said his fiercest rival failed to make it to court because he was under the weather.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the ‘Kpo Keke’ hitmaker stated that the busy schedules of his friend may have affected his health which prevented him from showing up.
“I think he was not feeling well and you know Shatta is very very busy, he likes to be too busy so he couldn’t come but I was there,” Stonebwoy told Andy Dosty, host of the show.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are standing trial for offensive misconduct during the 2019 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The Adjabeng Magistrate Court in Accra, presided over by His Worship, Mr Isaac Addo, on October 23, issued a stern warning to Charles Nii Armah Mensah (Shatta Wale) for failing to show up in court.
The prosecution, led by Superintendent Emelia Asante, then prayed the court for a bench warrant to be issued for the arrest of the musician.
It was the case of Superintendent Asante that the accused person was delaying the trial due to his continuous absence from court.
However, his lawyer Jerry Avenorgbo, pleaded for the court to temper justice with mercy.
Stonebwoy told Andy Dosty that Shatta Wale was, however, in court on Monday, November 4, when the case was heard again.
The ‘Ololo’ singer said that “as far as I know, everything is moving on well legally” and the case has been adjourned.
The artiste said he was impressed by the effectiveness of the judiciary to see to the implementation of the state laws.
“Ghana law works but if you walk around you think that it’s just like that, people are working hard to make sure that they instil law and order,” he added.
