The Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has cautioned leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to desist from engaging in public debate concerning the differences between Nana Addo and Alan Kyeremateng. According to him, such public discussions about the two gentlemen deepen and give substance to the perceived factionalism within the party. The Thursday edition of the Chronicle Newspaper reported that an Aide to Nana Addo, the 2008 presidential candidate of the NPP, Mr Abu Jinapor has dismissed media reports that his boss is losing grounds to Mr Alan Kyeremateng, a former Trade and Industry Minister in the ongoing regional executive polls. The paper said that Mr Jinapor claimed that Nana Addo is not interested in the so called factionalism in the party but is only concerned about the unity of the party. In view of this, Mr Kweku Baako, who was speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme, advised political activists directly or indirectly connected to either Nana or Alan to refrain from commenting on such issues. He said that to recapture power from “the ailing NDC government in 2012,” the NPP should ensure that whatever product they put out in the end is marketable. This, he said, can only be achieved if the party focuses on its internal cohesion, adding that when the media put out stories about Nana and Alan, “you too are out there interrogating the issue” as and an activist of the party perceived as belonging to one group? “What I am saying is that the way forward is not for non-identifiable advocates to become part and parcel of the media thing about Alan and Nana,” he added, discouraging that “that is not what the party needs now.” By: Dorcas Efe Mensah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
