The Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, has cautioned aspiring parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) using his name and office for their campaigns to desist forthwith.
A statement signed by his spokesperson, John Jinapor, said the Vice President was unhappy with reports that some aspirants in their meetings with delegates claimed they were either asked by him to contest, or they were his preferred candidate in the constituency while others claimed that he was the financier of their campaign.
The statement made it clear that the Vice President was not support¬ing any candidate in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the ruling NDC and urged delegates to ignore such claims any time they are made.
He also used the opportunity to wish all aspirants well and urged them to carry out their campaign in a civil and decorous manner in the supreme interest of party unity.
