Djole Music and Dance Company, in conjunction with Nkabom Productions have supported the Street Academy in Accra and the Specialists Clinic of the Department of Child Health of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for the upkeep of the children.The Street Academy received 5.6 million cedis and some bags of rice and cooking oil for the feeding of the children as well as for the payment of the school fees of the products of the Academy who have joined the formal school system The Children's Special Clinic also received about one million cedis for the support of children who attend the clinic.Nana Ama Yeboah, Co-ordinator of the companies said the donation was in fulfillment of a promise to support the children of the two institutions to lead healthy lives through engaging in sporting and cultural activities.She said the donation also aims at supporting the Academy to cater for the feeding of the pupils since they are engaged in other non-formal, sporting and cultural activities as the Academy have to rely on benevolent organizations to cater for feeding needs of the children.Ataa Lartey, Director of the Academy commended the Djole company and Nkabom Productions for supporting the upkeep of the pupils since it is one area that is of a major concern to the running of the Academy and maintaining the ever increasing number of children off the streets. He called on other organizations to come to the aid of the Academy by supporting the children with various items that would aid them in acquiring basic training in vocations that would make them lead decent live styles.Dr Lorra Renner of the Children's Specialists Clinic who received the money thanked the companies for their gesture and said the donation would go a long way in crating an enabling environment to children who are brought for consultations.She said the money would be used to purchase toys, colour papers and crayons and other play items to engage the attention of the children and diffuse their anxiety whilst awaiting to be attended to and it would also give some form of relief to their parents at the clinic.GNA
