The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, Mr. Albert Boakye Otchere has called on the youth to strike a balance between culture and technology in order to derive the
maximum benefits of the two.
He stated that, it was unacceptable for the youth of today to neglect their culture with the excuse of being in the era of technology.
Speaking at the launching of Media Peak Concept, a non-governmental organization on education at Tema on Saturday, Mr. Otchere said majority of
the Ghanaian youth have gone wayward due to their adoption of foreign cultures and negative influences of technology.
The MCE noted that even though technology is beneficial to the youth and the nation as a whole, culture builds their morals as well as preserve the nation’s heritage.
Mr. Otchere advised that the youth to make good choices including good moral lives free from social vices.
He further urged the youth to be innovative in the development of their careers by setting achievable goals that would contribute to the growth of the country.
Mr Francis Bernard Anyinatoe, New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashiaman parliamentary candidate on his part called for peace and unity among Ghanaians during the December election.
Mr Anyinatoe also reiterated the call for the promotion of the Ghanaian culture noting that it was one of the best attitudes in the world.
Mr Elvis Washington Agyimanku, Chief Executive Officer of Media Peak Concept in a welcoming address, said his organization seeks to inform, educate and enhance the lifestyle of the youth through quality entertainment.
Mr Agyimanku explained that his outfit, founded by media practitioners identified entertainment as an avenue mostly used to influence the youth especially Junior and Senior High School students into bad habits.
He further explained that the organization focuses on entertainment as an educational avenue as that is the channel widely patronized by many expressing the optimism that “it will help solve most of the moral challenges facing us as a people when is well utilized”.
