The chief of Suhum has denied media reports that he his backing National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate ahead of the December polls.According to Nana Osaberima Aye Kofi II he only gave his blessing to Samuel Fletcher Pabi when he called on him at his palace together with the NDC presidential hopeful John Dramani Mahama. The chief was alleged to have canvassed votes for the NDC candidate while accusing the incumbent New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament Fred Opare Ansah for gross incompetence. The incumbent ironically doubles as his biological brother. In an interview with Joy News to clarify what transpired at his palace, Osaberima Aye Kofi II maintained he was misinterpreted by the media.“There was no time that I spoke against the NPP or my brother.”
The chief however admitted saying Samuel Fletcher had contributed immensely to activities in the constituency.“Let me set the records straight; it is true Mr. Pabi bought the chairs we are sitting on in the palace and that is what I said.”“If I give my blessing to Mahama it doesn’t mean my brother did not do well,” he insisted. He gave the assurance that he will give his blessing to parties and candidates who call on him at his palace.Author: Nathan Gadugah
