Staff of the Survey Department all over the country have scheduled a meeting for Thursday to take a decision on how long to stay away from work. The workers began a sit down strike on Tuesday to protest a bill aimed at placing all land related agencies under the Lands Commission. The workers said the Survey Department’s functions are technical in nature and will be relegated to the background if it is merged with the Lands Commission.Even though the workers reported for work today, they did not work. The sector Minister, Prof. Dominic Fobih said he is surprised at the action of the workers because their leaders were involved in the drafting of the Bill.
