Police in the Kadjebi District have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the killing of an 80-year-old woman, following what authorities describe as a sustained, intelligence-led operation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 25, the suspect, Chalim Madzaton, also known as Peter Tano, a farmer, was apprehended at a hideout in Kpaya, a suburb of Ahamansu.
His arrest is linked to the death of Dakolor Semaka, whose killing has raised concern among residents in Mangoase and surrounding communities.
According to police, the incident was reported on March 24, 2026, after the suspect allegedly attacked his girlfriend, 55-year-old Yaa Tugbenyo, and her mother at their home in Mangoase, near Kadjebi.

During the attack, Ms Tugbenyo managed to escape. However, upon returning to the house, she discovered her mother lying motionless on the floor.
Officers who responded to the scene found the elderly woman lying on her back with visible signs of violence.
The area was immediately secured and processed, with investigators documenting the scene and taking photographs to support evidential procedures.
A medical officer at St. Mary Theresa Hospital later confirmed the death of Dakolor Semaka. Her body has since been placed in the hospital’s morgue, where it will be preserved pending a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

"The deceased was pronounced dead by a medical officer at St. Mary Theresa Hospital and the body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy."
Police have confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations. He is expected to be arraigned before court in due course.
