On 30 September 2009, the Embassy of Switzerland in Accra together with the Nubuke Foundation launched new premises for its Economic Section. The Ambassador of Switzerland to Ghana, H.E. Nicolas Lang, opened an exhibition of artworks of major Ghanaian artists to mark the official launch of the Economic Section. The art exhibition is Switzerland’s contribution to deepen and promote cultural ties with Ghana.The Embassy of Switzerland to Ghana represents, among other activities, the official Swiss Development Assistance to Ghana granted through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Switzerland’s assistance to Ghana concentrates on economic and trade measures. The new office premises follows the decision of the Government of Switzerland to consider its economic cooperation with Ghana as one out of seven priority countries worldwide.Ghana and Switzerland’s cooperate in four main domains i.e. sound macro-economic policies and transparent public finances; financial sector development and strengthening; trade, competition and investment climate and basic infrastructure regulation and public utilities in energy.Nubuke Foundation is a cultural foundation whose mission is to record, preserve and promote Ghanaian history and cultural heritage for future generations. The Foundation collects and collates information about Ghanaian heritage and promotes cultural awareness through its diverse programmes.The art exhibition is a one-year cooperation agreement between the Embassy of Switzerland and Nubuke Foundation. Under the cooperation agreement, Nubuke Foundation will display artworks in the office space of the Swiss Embassy which will be sold commission- free. Artworks on display are by Galle Winston Kofi Dawson, Benedict Kojo Quaye (Sir Black), Bernard Akoi-Jackson and Fatric Bewong.Martin Saladin
