The Management of Takoradi Polytechnic has presented a cheque for GH₵1,000.00 to the TV3 Rosebud Health Foundation, demonstrating the willingness of the Polytechnic to partner civil society engagements that are geared towards addressing nascent social issues in the Western Region.
In addition to the GH₵1,000.00 donated by Management, the Students’
Representative Council of the Polytechnic also presented a cash of GH₵500.00, making a total of GH₵1,500.00, the amount being expended by the Polytechnic towards procuring a Plasma Refrigerator for the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital’s blood bank.
Earlier, Management, staff and students of the Polytechnic had partnered TV3 Network, one of Ghana’s leading television stations, to embark on a health walk aimed at raising awareness about emerging public health issues affecting human development in the country.
The three-hour walk through the principal streets of the Takoradi metropolis was, as well, intended to raise funds for indigents who had in recent times depended on the benevolence of TV3 in meeting their medical bills.
Rev. Prof. Daniel A. Nyarko, Rector of the Polytechnic, in presenting the amount, expressed his contentment about the collaboration between the two institutions, more so when their voluntary efforts are geared towards solving the plight of ordinary people.
“It is a good cause which the Polytechnic wants to be associated with and I am pleading that other good citizens of this country would identify with the fund and give support to a good cause”.
The Chief Operating Officer of TV3, Mr. Santokh Singh, said the Rosebud Health Foundation aims at raising funds to assist as many people and health institutions as possible, through public education, on the need to seek early treatment when they feel unwell than to wait for the infirmity to degenerate into a life-threatening scare before seeking professional care.
Participating in the walk was the Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, CEO of TV3, Mr. Syed Ahmad Zaidi, Mr. Jones Addai-Marfo, Registrar of T-Poly, Mr. Joseph O. Forson, the Finance Officer and Mr. Richard Nyarkoh, SRC President, among others.
