The Tain District Security Council is requesting for increased police deployment to Seikwa in the Brong Ahafo region over insecurity in the area.
This follows the assassination of local chief, Nana Kweku Gyimah Ankoana, two weeks ago.
Police have arrested four persons in connection with the killing. The District Security Council met today to review the security situation.
Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah was in Seikwa and reported that the District Chief Executive for Tain, Jones Samuel Tawiah, after the DISEC meeting, noted that the council have agreed for police enforcement in Nsawkaw and Seikwa to maintain security in those areas as residents expressed fears since the demise of the paramount chief.
"We are going to ask for more policemen to come to Nsawkaw and Seikwa", he emphasized.
The DCE blamed the deceased chief and the police for what happened.
"When the cars were burnt, Nana did not take precautionary measures. The first one was burnt, I would have wished that bringing the second one, he should have a place to park and the second one came.
Now for the burning of the cars, he reported to the police but I think the police delayed in investigating to unravel the mystery surrounding the burning of the cars", Jones Samuel Tawiah lamented.
The DEC further indicated that the persons behind the text message allegedly sent threatening the decease chief must be identified by the police in this day of using communication technology, noting, "we have grown to a stage that nobody can insult you and go scot free. The person can be identified".
According to him, if the police had the phone numbers of those people who texted and threatened the decease chief, they should have taken action.
"I think this is lackadaisical attitude", he bemoaned.
Meanwhile, the Tain Traditional council met and details of the meeting is yet to be disclosed.
