The Assembly Members of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly have overwhelmingly endorsed the President's nominee for the position of Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Abubakari Adam Takoro.
Mr. Takoro received a 100% endorsement from all assembly members present, clearing the path for him to officially assume office and begin implementing his vision and government policies aimed at accelerating development within the Metropolis.

Before the voting commenced, 17 government appointees were first sworn into office. In total, 58 members participated in the confirmation exercise.

Addressing the Assembly in his acceptance speech, Mr. Abubakari Adam Takoro reiterated his commitment to collaborating with traditional leaders to address the challenges facing the Greater Tamale area.
"I’m aware of the challenges facing the Tamale Metropolis. In collaboration with our traditional authorities, we are going to tackle them," he said.
The Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Saibu, revealed that he had appealed to the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) to reschedule its planned revenue mobilisation exercise initially slated for this month - April.
"I met with NEDCo authorities, and I have been able to stop them from their revenue mobilisation exercise. This is to give you a bit of time to mobilise yourselves and pay your bills," he said.
He also cautioned residents against illegal electricity connections in the area. "I was informed that some people are engaged in illegal connections. Desist from that because I do not condone any illegalities," he added.
One of the former contestants for the MCE position, Iddrisu Hardi Pagazaa, called on the youth to support the newly confirmed Mayor to bring development to the area.
"He needs the support of the youth to succeed. I have already given him my support and shared with him my ideas, so I entreat all the youth to support him," he said.
