Alhaji Yakubu Ayana, a Tamale businessman and a philanthropist, has built a mosque valued over GH¢1,500 for the Tamale Central Hospital. The mosque, built in a record time of about two months, would serve as a place of worship for the workers and patients admitted at the hospital.Alhaji Ayana, who presented the keys to the mosque to the hospital Administrator, Mr Damasus Ayangba in Tamale on Friday, said his initiative was borne out of the fact that there was no decent place of worship within the hospital premises. He said he had plans also to build a mortuary for the hospital, adding that, he had sent a request to the hospital authorities to give him land for the execution of the project.Alhaji Ayana urged other public-spirited individuals and organisations to assist in the provision of social amenities and other needs of the people, instead of relying on government and NGOs to always provide those needs. He called on the people to take proper care of the mosque to prolong its life span.Mr Ayangba on behalf of the management and staff of the hospital, thanked Alhaji Ayana for his gesture and said Muslims attending the hospital would be relieved as they now got a place to worship.Source: GNA
