The Division One league resumes on the April 16 and ahead of its return, Joy Sports will premiere on all Joy News platforms, a 32 minute documentary dubbed, Tamale’s Year of Return, on Thursday April 15, 2021
Joy Sports' George Addo Jnr in this special football piece takes a deeper look at Tamale’s 8-year Ghana Premier League absence and its dire effect on the economy, infrastructure and neglect of young talents coming through.
However, there is a growing sense of optimism of turning a corner this year with one team from the North expected to gain promotion to the Premier Division.
Real Tamale United (RTU), had represented the Tamale district in the country’s top flight till their relegation in 2013 and after almost a decade, the region has struggled to produce a representative.
The performances churned out by RTU and two fledgling Clubs in Steadfast FC and Tamale City in Division Zone one is filling many with hope of the grand return to Ghana's Premier League.
The documentary airs this Thursday on the Joy News channel at 8am and at 7am on the Joy Prime channel, with repeats at 2pm and 10.30pm on the Joy News channel.
