The Ashanti Region branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described as “devilish” threats by sections of Ga-Dangme
Groups and the Osu Traditional Council to evict ex-president Kufuor from his office complex.
They say the threat does not augur well for national cohesion.
Ex-President JA Kufuor’s acquisition of an office complex has been a subject of a huge controversy with sections of Ga-Dangme groups stoking the fire with threats of demonstrations and eviction.
They have sworn to make life uncomfortable for the ex-president if he insists on staying in the office complex.
But the Ashanti Regional branch of opposition party expresses disquiet about the threats.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, the General Secretary Sam Cudjoe called on President John Evans Atta Mills to condemn the activities of the Ga groups.
He said the activities by a section of the Ga-groups demonstrated a mark of ingratitude.
Out of the many presidents the country has produced, Mr. Cudjoe asserted, only President Kufuor has shown genuine commitment to return some Ga-lands to their rightful owners.
He called for decorum to prevail.
