A circuit court in Kumasi, on Wednesday sentenced Solomon Amponsah, a 60-year-old teacher, to 15 years' imprisonment with hard labour for defiling an eight-year-old pupil. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Madam Wilhelmina Hammond that the convict was a teacher at the Showers Of Blessings International School at Breman UGC, a suburb of Kumasi. Prosecution said every morning the teacher sent the victim and other pupils to school and brought them back to their homes after classes. Chief Inspector Baffour-Kyei said on May 27, 2007 at about 0023 the victim's grandmother saw blood coming out of her genitals while she was asleep.
