A 42-year-old teacher is in police grips for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old junior high school student.
The suspect, Kofi Adom Kaakyire, a Home Economics teacher at the Odorkor SDA Preparatory School, said to be a friend to the girl's sister, has been helping him in his house chores.
Briefing the Times in Accra Wednesday, Inspector Whoknows Attipoe, Station Officer of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), said on October 7, the victim went to Kaakyire’s house to assist him.
Inspector Attipoe said afterwards the girl said she was asked by Kaakyire whether she had been kissed before, and when she answered in the negative Kaakyire told her he would teach her how to do it.
He forcibly grabbed her and forcibly had sex with her and gave her GH¢2 with the warning not to disclose to anybody or she would die.
He said it was not until November 18 that the girl’s sister noticed change in her attitude and when she confronted her, she told her about her ordeal.
The sister made a report to the police and Kaakyire was arrested.
According to Mr. Attipoe, in Kaakyire’s statement to the police, he said he found the girl relaxing on his bed and she consented to have sex with him.
