Yaw Adjei-Duffour, Kintampo South District Chief Executive, has presented 60 bicycles to teachers serving in deprived communities in the district.
The United Nations International Children Education Fund provided the bicycles.
Mr. Adjei-Duffour said the district assembly was making efforts to support teachers in deprived areas and appealed to the teachers to encourage parents to take advantage of the capitation grant to enrol their children in schools.
Mr. Osei Sarfo, District Director of Education, commended the teachers for their support towards the promotion of education in the district.
The district celebration of the national service personnel week has taken place at Jema and Killian Yaw Nsor, district coordinator of the scheme expressed gratitude to the district assembly for renting rooms for the personnel last year.
He appealed to the assembly to provide permanent accommodation for the personnel.
Mr. Adjei-Duffour commended the personnel for their good behaviour and punctuality.
He said the assembly was working towards providing decent accommodation for personnel posted to the district.Source: GNA
