Afriwave Telecom grabbed honours at the 6th edition of the National Communications Awards, held over the weekend in Accra.
Afriwave Telecom was adjudged the “Outstanding Interconnect Clearing House Provider of the Year. Francis Poku, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Afriwave Telecom, also won the “Industry Leadership Award”, whilst the Chairman and Founder of Afriwave Telecom, David Poku won the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.
The award ceremony, held at the Accra Marriott Hotel, Airport City, was in recognition of Afriwave’s exceptional service, groundbreaking innovations, and relentless dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
Commenting on the award won, David Poku who has over 26 years of experience in the telecom industry, said the award is in line with the role he has played in Ghana’s telecom industry.
He implored the Chief Executive Officers of the various telecommunication companies in Ghana and the industry players to come up with policies that will reduce the high cost of data in Ghana to enable the average Ghanaian to access the internet.
Francis Poku dedicated his award to the management and staff of Afriwave for their dedication and hard work.
He revealed that Afriwave’s SMS platform is ready for use and called on all Value-Added Service (VAS) providers to take advantage of the platform.
Mr. Poku said Afriwave’s Application to Person (A2P) SMS platform offers a comprehensive suite of solutions designed to meet one’s messaging needs with unrivalled efficiency and reliability.
He encouraged VAS providers, Corporate organisations, the banking sector, ministries and agencies to take their communication strategy to new heights by signing onto Afriwave’s innovative SMS services.

Francis Poku called on all Ghanaians to join hands to push Ghana’s telecom industry to a greater height.
