Parliamentary proceedings have been delayed for several hours due to some technical hitches involving the microphones in the main chamber of the house.
Joy News’ parliamentary correspondence Sammy Darko reports that none of the 250 microphones for the Members of Parliament was working as at midday Wednesday.
He said in-house technicians have been battling since morning to put back the malfunctioning microphones into operation, but to no avail.
It would be very impossible for the house to undertake any of the business of the day because members would not be able to hear each other speak. Moreover, their voices could not be recorded for recordkeeping in the parliamentary hanzard.
As the situation persists, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mr Doe Adjaho has moved for the house to be suspended for the problem to be rectified.
