TEDxLabone, an independently organised TED event to be organised at Labone, Accra, has been scheduled to take place at the Kama Conference Centre in March 2014. Operating under license from TED, the conference is along the theme ‘Inform, Empower and Educate’ and will feature 18-20 of the nation’s leading thinkers, innovators, artists, philosophers and entertainers representing diverse fields including education, business, technology, entertainment, visual and performing arts, design, politics, and music. TEDxLabone is expected to sit 100 delegates at the Kama Conference Centre at Labone, Accra and hopes that it becomes a local forum for ideas within community that inspires people to change their lives, futures and ultimately their world. Therefore the general public are encouraged to nominate speakers and performers on the website- www.tedxlabone.com. The organisers are also working hard to get the right speakers for the event and as and when they are selected they will be officially introduced to the public. TED was founded in 1984; the acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. The annual TED conference brings together some of the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events are self-organized and information about TEDxLabone can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
