A magazine aimed at educating adolescents across the country has been launched in Accra.
The teen magazine titled “DISCOVERY TEEN” has a core objective of informing and educating the adolescents on how to deal the changes involved in their transition into adulthood.
It also appreciates the challenges teenagers face and helps them make informed choices.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Editor of the DISCOVERY TEEN magazine, Mrs. Mercy Ajabeng said the overarching objective of the publication is to provide an informative avenue to address adolescents’ associated characteristics and challenges aimed at generating national sensitization and advocacy programmes that are target-specific to achieve expected results.
“I believe such a magazine is timely because a bulk of our Teens today are scarcely informed therefore ill-equipped to handle their challenges” she noted
Additionally, she said the unique problems of adjustment they face and the complex nature of today’s world compound their choices.
“In view of this, most issues addressed are the result of surveys and interviews on adolescent issues conducted among adolescents, parents and those who deal with teenagers. Most segments are therefore contributions from experts”.
Mercy Ajabeng said aside from educating and entertaining, the magazine also offers a better alternative to the various problems encountered at this stage of development through its carefully chosen and researched contents.
