The Asamankese Circuit Court has sentenced an 18-year-old man to five years imprisonment for stealing two mobile phones.
Joshua Sarfo was convicted on his own plea when he was charged with stealing and unlawful entry.
The prosecuting officer, Police Sargeant Samuel Owusu, told the court that "the complainant, in this case, is a student of Kofi Ansah D/A Basic School in Abamkrom, while the accused is unemployed in the same town."
He said sometime in July this year, at about 2:30 am, the accused unlawfully entered the complainant's room and made away with Itel and Techno mobile phones valued at ¢310 and ¢420, respectively.
Sargeant Owusu said the phones belonged to Stephen Arhin and Ofori Meshach, who are all residents in the area.
The prosecutor explained that on August 26 at about 8:30 am, the convict was arrested at Nyanoa, a nearby town, when he was spotted at a food joint.
Upon interrogation, the convict admitted stealing the phones and sold them to a Nigerian in Asamankese.
The court presided over by Abubakari Abass Adams ruled that he serves his jail term in hard labour.
