The Tema Police is hunting for five high way robbers who attacked traders aboard a vehicle along the Asutuare and Doryumu road, Tuesday.
The robbers reportedly mounted a road block and started collecting monies and other valuables from the traders.
A tip-off from occupants of other vehicles on the road led to the swift arrival of a police patrol team, culminating in a hot gun fire exchanges between the robbers and the police.
One of robbers together with a driver’s mate were shot dead.
Tema Regional Police Commander ACP Gyaning who confirmed the incident to Joy News said some of the robbers sustained serious gunshot wounds but managed to escape.
He has subsequently urged the general public to be on the look out for persons with gun shot wounds.
He advised doctors to make a report to the police of any person or group of persons who report to the various hospitals with gunshot wounds.
