Tension is brewing between supporters of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and those of President Mills in the Ashanti Region over recent developments in the NDC.They are accusing each other of embarking on smear campaign and also sowing seeds of discord within the party. It all began when former President Rawlings met with the regional and constituency executives of the party in Kumasi a few weeks ago.Just after the meeting, the Regional Secretary of the Youth Working Committee of the party came under fire for openly criticizing the former President on radio.Kobby Onasis Rosely, a member of the party, alleged he and other members of the NDC youth wing have received all manner of threats for openly declaring support for Professor Mills.‘‘There is a circulating text message that seems to malign and humiliate my very good self and some of us and that we don’t want to tolerate it. Whoever is behind this should put a stop to it’’.He alleged that the Deputy Public Relations Officer at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, Brogya Gyamfi, attacked him for being a threat to the flag-beareship bid of the former First Lady."Ernest Brogya Gyamfi(Armani) attacked me on this very issue accusing me of doing everything not to ensure that our woman(Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings wins the elections."He is accusing me for not working according to his interest and if his interest is Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, fair enough."He said if I don’t stop what he perceived to be maligning, he and his group will break my leg".The Regional Youth Organizer, Kwaku Boahen also confirmed to Nhyira FM that he received threats on his life."They are in that camp and we thought Armani, especially, once that he has been given Deputy Public relations Officer at the Regional Coordinating Council to propagate the good news of Professor Mills he will stop but it has even worsen."Mr. Brogya Gyamfi, however, denied the allegations and also dismissed suggestions he was a Nana Konadu’s supporter.Rather, he accused his critics of engaging in acts that would collapse the NDC.Story by:Ohemeng Tawiah, Nhyira Fm/Kumasi/Ghana
