Tension is brewing in Agbozume, the traditional capital of Some in the Ketu South municipality of the Volta Region, over the installation of two rival chiefs claiming ownership of the paramount stool.
The two factions who are laying claim to the paramount stool of the Some traditional area namely the Adama and Nukpornuku families have all installed rival chiefs as paramount chiefs yet to be out-doored.
The two chiefs are Togbe Adama III and Togbi Nukpornuku II respectively.
The tension is heightened as the Adama family seeks to outdoor Togbe Adama III on Saturday, March 12, despite an interlocutory injunction placed on the outdooring of the Chief by the Judicial Committee of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
Addressing a press conference in Ho, Nukpornuku family says if the outdooring is allowed to come off, it will be a breach of peace.
"We don't want any bloodshed in Some. We want the people of Some to enjoy their peace, so the outdooring should stop,"
The Nukpornuku family, therefore, is calling on the security agencies to intervene for peace to prevail.
Joy News' Hubert Mawuli Yevu-Agbi reports that this controversy is happening at a time when the late paramount chief of Some, Togbi Hor II, is yet to be laid to rest.
Togbe Hor II's reign was from 1971 to 2012.
