A 15-meter replica World Cup trophy has been unveiled at an impressive ceremony in Accra as part of activities to garner support for the Black Stars ahead of the 2012 World Cup in Brazil.
The replica trophy would go on a nationwide tour dubbed the One Ghana Tour and would be handed to the Black Stars in a symbolic gesture before they leave for Brazil.
The gesture is to spur the Stars on to bring the original trophy back to Ghana, next month.
Club Premium Lager is the official sponsor of the One Ghana tour which is being organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in partnership with One Ghana Association.
The One Ghana National Tour, which began in Kumasi at the Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, was officially launched by the sector Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Minister of Youth & Sports on the theme, ‘The Cup is Ours’.
The tour will be characterised by durbars, musical concerts, soccer gala, signing events and related activities in the regional capitals of the country to garner support for the Black Stars’ 2014 World Cup campaign.
At the unveiling ceremony of the replica World Cup trophy the Marketing Manager of ABL, Mr. James Sarfo, stated “Club Beer understands the pulse, events and activities that excite the nation and its people and if you ask me what these are, I will mention football, authentic Ghanaian music and Club Beer. And that is why Club beer will continue to refresh Ghanaians every step of the way”.
Mr. James Sarfo also hinted of a surprise package for two of the company’s customers and an employee in respect of the World Cup tournament but that package would be revealed in due course, he noted.
The ceremony was attended by various personalities including Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, a renowned sports journalist and Caroline Simpson, a brand ambassador of ABL’s Castle Milk Stout.
