A tanker loaded with fuel last Friday evening skidded off the Tema Community 8 dual carriage road into the opposite lane and crashed into an oncoming KIA truck, killing all three occupants of the KIA instantly.
The bodies of the three - the driver, driver's mate and a lady - have been deposited at the Tema General Hospital morgue.
An eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency on Sunday that the driver of the tanker, bearing registration number GT 614 N and two others on board were taken to the same hospital with severe injuries.
The eyewitness said just before the accident at about 1900 hours, the tanker was behind a saloon car being driven by a lady.
The lady was said to have slowed down to speak on her mobile phone and this apparently angered the tanker driver who swerved to overtake her and in the process skidded into the opposite lane and collided with the incoming truck.
Police had to cut the truck into pieces before removing the deceased who got trapped in the cowl.
The Tema Regional Police Public Affairs Officer confirmed the incident and said his outfit was investigating the accident.Source: GNA
