A Cape Coast High Court, presided over by Justice Erasmus Gyinae, on Wednesday sentenced three young men to 210 years imprisonment for armed robbery.
They were Safianu Braima, Issah Essifu and Fuseini Rabaran, all "loading boys" at New Tafo in the Ashanti Region.
Two other suspects, whose names were given as Matthew and Haruna, are, however, at large.
Giving judgement, Justice Gyinae said the victims of the accused were farmers at Subinso, near Kyekyewere in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
He said on March 27, this year, Matthew, a former farm hand of the victims, led the convicts to the victims' houses at dawn and demanded that they hand over all the money in their possession.
He said when Nana Kwesi and his wife Adjoa Sekyewa told them they had no money on them, the convicts started to struggle with Nana Kwesi.
Justice Gyinae said the convicts then tied Nana Kwesi with a rope and hit him and the wife on their heads with a knife.
He said Nana Kwesi managed to escape from the room to the next village for help, adding that the convicts ransacked the room and managed to get GH¢300 (¢3 million).
He said they then asked Adjoa Sekyewa to strip naked for all five of them to have sex with her.
He noted that Adjoa Sekyewa was almost naked when Nana Kwesi and a group of armed young men gave a warning shot which sent the convicts running from the house.
Justice Gyinae said the villagers pursued them and managed to apprehend Issah Braima and handed him over to the police.
He said Braima named his accomplices as Issah Essifu, Fuseini Rabaran, who were arrested at New Tafo, as well as Matthew and Haruna.
Justice Gyinae said the victims, who were bleeding profusely from the cut on their heads, were sent to the hospital for treatment.
