American rap artist, film and music producer, actor and author Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. known on stage as T.I. has hinted that aside music, he is anticipating more appearances in movies.
T.I., one of the hottest rap artistes on the planet, made his movie debut in ATL released in 2006. He has featured in three other productions – American Gangster (2007), For Sale (2008), and Takers (2010) which also starred Chris Brown.
The success chalked by those movies is definitely encouraging the Grand Hustle Records CEO to take up more movie roles, something he says is part of his long term goals.
Speaking in an interview with Zack O’malley Greenburg of Forbes, T.I. said, “The music will be at the forefront because I have Trouble Man coming this summer … I have other artistes that I have signed like Chip (Chipmunk) his mixtape will be dropping soon … in the midst of all of this music that we have been doing, our longer term goal we have film and television opportunities in the midst.”
These opportunities he said, “are coming, they are in the preliminary stages right now and they still very phenomenal.”
Keeping details of some of the productions close to his chest, T.I. hinted that he will be staring alongside Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise in a big-budget sci-fi war film, We Mortals Are.
“A new Tom Cruise film with Doug Liman who made the Bourne Identity, he did Swingers … I have that as well on the horizon.”
The Get Back Up rapper recently got a deal to be a season-long star in the Starz drama series, Boss, which stars Kelsey Grammar. T.I. will play the role of a former gangbanger, Trey, with aspirations of a career in Chicago’s City Hall.
Apart from productions with comedian Kelvin Hart and Omar Epps, the King of the South disclosed that “there is a Marvel Comic franchise that have been inquiring my availability for quite some time [but] I will not let any cats out of the bag prematurely.”
He has started shooting the second season of his T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle series.
