An otherwise colourful gathering of New Patriotic Party followers in mammoth counts, who descended on the West Akyem district capital of Asamankese from all over Ghana for what the party termed ‘Unity Rally’ was thrown asunder when heavy rains set in.And if anyone (or group) opposed to the ruling government intends to cash in on the obvious mishap, they are reminded though that many stalwarts defied the downpour, and soaked their very skins to listen to their leaders orate at the Asamankese Methodist Park. From President J.A. Kufuor to the about 18 NPP party aspirants eyeing the presidency who managed to make the trip, as far as to the JSS kid who desired to catch a glimpse of the occasion that had turned the Asamankese township into a flowing carnival of red, white and blue, here was an event to beat the chest about. However, what for ages appear to be a major blight on Ghanaian attitudes; conscious time management; stole gradually on all and eventually succeeded in throwing the beautiful event into a discomforting end and sent many scampering for waterproofing shelter.
