Ghanaian players in Europe continued their good goal scoring form over the weekend. This week, there were two debutants as Joy Sports’ team picked their five standout players from the weekend.
Afriyie Acquah - Yeni Malatyaspor
Afriyie Acquah won the man of the match award as his side Yeni Malatyaspor thrashed Kayserispor 4-0 in the Turkish Super Lig.
The former Torino impressed in his side’s big win as he assisted two of the four goals scored on the day.
The strong, talented and tenacious, Acquah was very commanding in the middle of the park with 76 touches of the ball, making two key passes whilst successfully completing one dribble.
Jordan Ayew – Crystal Palace
Jordan Ayew scored his fourth Premier League goal of the season as Crystal Palace came from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Arsenal at the Emirates.
The 28-year-old has been very efficient this season in front of goal for Palace scoring his four goals with just seven chances created for him.
Ayew is in the form of his life as he has now scored four goals in his last eight Premier League matches, matching the tally he had in his previous 34 appearances.
Abdul Fatawu Safiu - Trelleborgs FF
Currently, on loan from Kotoko, Abdul Fatawu Safiu netted his third goal of the season for Trelleborgs FF over the weekend.
Despite Trelleborgs FF losing 3-2 at home to Jönköpings Södra IF, Fatawu lasted the entirety of the game as he dazzled with another impressive performance.
The 25-year-old scored the first goal for the Blue and White lads on the 29th minute of the game.
He has scored three goals in his eight appearances for Trelleborgs FF in his maiden season.
Mohammed Salisu - Real Valladolid
A debut La Liga goal for Mohammed Salisu helped his side Real Valladolid to a 2-0 win against Eibar over the weekend.
The left-footed central defender scored Valladolid’s second in the 39th minute, finishing off an inch-perfect pass from Nacho.
The former Valladolid B player has been very key for the senior side since breaking into the starting line up in August. He’s featured in all 10 La Liga games for Real Valladolid so far this season.
Andre Ayew – Swansea City
Black Stars Captain, Andre Ayew was adjudged man of the match after playing an influential role as Swansea City won the South Wales derby 1-0 against Cardiff City in English Championship.
Though Ayew didn’t get his name on the scoresheet, the forward had one shot (off-target), one successful dribble, and also 63 touches on the ball along with 26 accurate passes at 70.3%.
The former Marseille man worked hard all over the pitch winning seven of his 14 ground duels
