State oil refinery, Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has began refining crude oil after shutting down operations for almost four months.
This was after TOR managed to secure financial support from Access Bank to bring in almost 800 barrels of crude oil from Sahara Oil expected to take one month to refine.
The refinery begun operations on December 29, 2014.
This means that TOR will for the next one month be producing at about 50% of its capacity.
Public Affairs Manager at Tema Oil Refinary, Aba Loko, said the development is good start for the refinery.
TOR once controled about 80% of the local petroleum market, but has now dropped to about 20% because it has not been operating beyond half of its capacity.
