The Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional area Torgbui Gaabusu says he was in his Palace when it came under attack from irate youth from the Zongo community at Hohoe in the Volta Region.
He said the angry youth threatened to chop off his head.
According to him, the irate youth were highly charged when he came from his room to find out what the matter was.
Torgbui Gaabusu was narrating his ordeal when the Awormefia, Torgbui Sri III and Dr Bernard Glover, a member of the Council of State, paid a courtesy call on him to sympathise with him.
He explained that his sisters were in the Palace except the wife and children who were living in a separate house.
Muslim youth Monday attacked and vandalized the palace of the Gbi chiefdom when the chief Imam for Hohoe, Alhassan Saani, who had been buried Sunday after objections from Torbgui Gaabusu, was exhumed and dumped in a bush by the road side.
The action prompted reprisals from the local people who looted and burnt shops and houses and vehicles belonging to Muslims creating a dire security and humanitarian situation.
Torgbui Gaabusu described the events regrettable considering the cordial relationship that hitherto existed between the people of Gbi and the Zongo community.
He appealed to the member of Council of State Dr Glover to ensure that government institutes investigations into the crime.
