Total Petroleum Ghana is to partner the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the training of students for the oil sector.Under a three year partnership, the oil giant and KNUST will collaborate in education and other research projects through Total’s Regional Research Partnership.Students and researchers will also have the opportunity to participate in Total’s University events.Total Vice President, Human Resource for Africa and Middle East, Tony Brisset, told Luv FM the partnership would also provide scholarships for KNUST students to pursue further learning in France.According to him, Total Professuer Associes, a non-profit organisation will delegate professors and experts who will deliver technical or business related presentations and courses at the KNUST.This seeks to build a bridge between the technical and operational issues of the oil industry and the academic circles.Tony Brisset is hopeful this will enable Total Petroleum recruit much needed human resource from the KNUST.Provost of the College of Engineering, Prof. S.I.K Ampadu noted the agreement will enable KNUST achieve its goal of providing human resource to support Ghana’s oil sector.According to him, the collaboration will create and facilitate international network between Total’s key executives and academics, strengthen partnership with universities in key countries and contribute to the development of cutting edge technologies in the oil sector.
