Touchpoint Magna Carta (TPMC), a Reputations Management, Event and Media Consultancy has organized its debut 13.2km walk up the infamous Aburi Hills, in support of the Kidney Care Project.
Dubbed ‘The Hunt’, the walk was aimed at encouraging corporate groups to burn calories the fun way.
According to Clarence Amoatey, General Manager of TPMC, the walk also sought to draw awareness to kidney-related diseases and the need to keep one’s kidney healthy.
“Walking is one of the easiest ways for the busy working class to improve one’s health,” he said, adding, “There is usually a lot of focus on cardiovascular diseases but other vital organs, like the kidney, tend to be lost in the thrill.”
Some of the participants described The Hunt as exciting but challenging.
“The hardest part was climbing up the hill.” said George Nipa, one of the participants. “But the fact that we were walking in groups and chatting along the route made it fun. We barely noticed we had walked 13.2km!”
The walk was complemented with aerobics and a health talk on how to prevent kidney diseases. Participants also interacted with kidney patients who shared their experience.
Prizes were awarded to about 14 participants who completed the walk in record time.
These included a weekend stay in Labadi Beach Hotel, a full body massage at Allure Spa, lunch at Amzera Restaurant and grooming at Men’s Cabin.
