Ghana will soon tap into the vast Asian tourist market as part of a new promotion policy direction, Ms Akua Sena Dansua, Minister of Tourism, has said.
She said Ghana already attracts tourists from the Americas and the United Kingdom but there are un-tapped potential markets in Asia, Malaysia and China that needs to be explored.
Ms Dansua noted that Ghana’s tourism had a lot to offer, however, there was the need for serious branding and advertising, calling on stakeholders to support the Ministry with ideas and funds.
The Minister made this known when she organized a stakeholders’ cocktail party over the weekend to enable players in the industry share ideas and contribute to the development of the sector.
She said the tourism sector needed support in terms of effective branding and marketing and called on corporate organizations to adopt specific tourist sites and brand them
“We want to bring all the stakeholders on board the tourism sector to ensure that everybody is involved”, Ms Dansua said, underscoring the contribution of the sector to the national development.
The Minister together with her deputy Mr Agyenim Boateng and other directors in the sector danced to tunes from the Teddy Combo band amidst interactions with the guests.
