A 35-year-old petty trader, Isaac Antwi, was on the early hours of Monday, shot dead in the full glare of the helpless wife by a gang of robbers at Nerebehi in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti region.
They escaped with GH¢200.00, two pieces of wax print and cellular phones.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Augustine Gyening, the Ashanti Regional Commander, said the gun-wielding masked robbers, numbering three, struck at about 0100Hrs
They broke into the room of the couple, shouted the name of the deceased and screamed “where is the money?”.
DCOP Gyening said Antwi sought to find from them, which money and that angered them, as they shot him in the eye.
The wife, Beatrice, managed to raise the alarm to attract neighbours after the criminals had left.
They called in the Police, who on arrival, found Antwi dead in a pool of blood.
The body had since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
DCOP Gyening said they suspected there might be more to the incident and vowed to do everything to get to the bottom of it.
