Some traders at the Tema station market on Friday expressed displeasure with the continuous price changes of food commodities and said this is affecting the buying rate of customers.

The traders in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency blamed the situation on the current dollar depreciation.

Master Kwesi Twum, a trader said people could not comfortably enjoy tea or any other beverage without incurring so much cost thereby customers have left these commodities to stay on the shelves.

He said the price of one tin of Milo is selling at GhȻ10.50 pesewas while the whole carton is going for GhȻ126.00 and a tin of Ideal milk is selling at GhȻ5.00 and the carton selling at GhȻ150.00.

A carton of Oats is selling at GhÈ»80.00 while one tin is going for GHÈ» 2.50 pesewas, a carton of cubed sugar is going for GHÈ» 54.00 and a carton of Lipton is selling at GhÈ»67.00 while one box is going for GhÈ»3.50 pesewas.

The price of commodities such as tomatoes suffer same fate with onion going up due to the shortage causing an olonka to be sold between GHÈ» 15.00  and GHÈ» 20.00 while an olonka of red pepper is selling at GHÈ» 15.00 as the green goes for GHÈ»  8.00.

Madam Ama Fosua a yam seller said four tubers of yam is selling at GHÈ» 6.00. Tuna is selling between GHÈ» 10.00 to GH₵ 25.00, while salmon is going for GHÈ» 8.00 and GH₵ 15.00, per one.
