Managements of accredited health institutions under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), have been urged to initiate comprehensive training programmes for their workers.
This would enhance their proficiency and capabilities to cope with the challenges of the Scheme.
Dr. G. K. Morrison, a Director of Health Services (GHS) responsible for the Effutu Municipal and the newly-created Awutu/Senya District, made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the weekend.
He was speaking after signing service contracts for state-owned Health Centres and clinics in the two areas at Winneba.
Dr. Morrison described the Health Insurance Scheme as the best health delivery system the nation has ever witnessed and charged Ghanaians to patronize it to get access to cheap and quality healthcare.
He pointed out that for the Scheme to function efficiently and effectively, Directors of the various accredited service providing facilities, must be prepared to offer their workers regular in-service training to update their skills.
Dr. Morrison said this would enable them to offer quality and acceptable healthcare delivery for the people.charged workers of such health institutions to learn more about their profession to help them cope with the emerging challenges under the Scheme.
The Medical Director advised implementers of the Scheme to strive to live above board all the time to attract more patrons.Source: GNA
