Regularly evaluating your risk factors for various medical conditions, and assessing your lifestyle habits helps you stay healthy while reducing your risk for life-threatening diseases.
That is why Chief of Atwima Asakraka in the Atwima Nwabiagya South district of the Ashanti Region wants Ghanaians to make daily health checkups and screening a habit.
Nana Osei Tutu Amankwa II urges Ghanaians to do away with negative perceptions attached to health checkups, and build a positive environment for their health.
Nana Amankwa II says regular monitoring of existing health issues reduces the risk of severe complications and limits extra healthcare costs.
The chief was speaking during a free health screening exercise for the people of the Asakraka community.
"I want my people to live healthy and longer because the people you lead as a chief should always stay healthy."
Nana Amankwa indicates he invited healthcare workers for free health screening exercises to ensure his people receive the best medical treatment.
He calls on other chiefs to consider the health of their people as paramount to reducing the risk of infectious diseases.
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to escalate, Nana Amankwa II wants health protocols to be fully complied with.
Over 500 people benefited from the health screening exercise.
Event organizer, Ghana Widows Association commends the chief for his unflinching support.
President of the association, Madam Philomena Antwiwaa, says they would continue to provide their quota for the country's development.
She however advises Ghanaians to pay attention to their environment and keep it clean to stay healthy.
Madam Antwiwaa also urges Queen mothers to emulate the Asakraka chief's efforts to keep their people healthy.
Beneficiaries of the exercise thank the chief for making their health a priority.
