From 2018 to 2022, 2,683,320 candidates have sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
Out of this number, 1,361,030 (50.72%) were males and 1,322,290 (49.28%) were females.
A total of 1,278 subject results have been cancelled over the period while 5,721 subject results withheld. Also, a total of 265 entire results have been cancelled.
Entire Results Cancelled
The 2018 year recorded 83 entire results cancelled. The following year, the number reduced to only 19. Since then, there has been a consistent increase in the number of entire results cancelled.
Subject Results Withheld
In 2018, the number of withheld subject results stood at 2,061. This increased to 2,497 in 2019. Since then, there has been a downward trend in the number.
Subject Results Cancelled
2018, 2019 and 2021 averaged 148 subject results cancelled. However, the 2022 figure indicates a significant increase in the number with 416 subject results cancelled.
This number is almost the same as the 2022 number of 417 with a difference of just one.
2022 BECE Examinations
For the 2022 BECE examinations, a total of 552,288 candidates sat for the 2022 BECE examination out of which 276,999 were males and 276,289 were females. 4,309 candidates were absent for the examinations.
416 subject results were cancelled, 38 subject results were withheld while entire results of 38 candidates were cancelled. Meanwhile, the scripts of candidates from 40 schools in certain subjects are undergoing scrutiny.
