Winners of this year’s Troofe Festival Cooking contest have been presented with their prizes at a ceremony in the office of Air Cote d’Ivoire which sponsored the contest.
Winner, Jamilatu Issa, a student of IPMC who won the contest was presented with a return air ticket to spend holidays at her choice of destination, catering machines and a certificate while.
Second place winner, Audia Moussalou, from Gabon went home with Samsung Smart Phone, a piece of Kente, a scholarship package and catering machine while second and third runners up received various consolation prizes and certificate of participation.
The contest was organized as part of the 2015 edition of the Troofe African Soup Festival to create a common platform for African youths to demonstrate their skill in the preparation of dishes in various African countries.
Four contestants from Ghana, Gabon, Cote d’ivoire and Nigeria were gathered at the Crystal Part in Accra to battle each other which finally produced the Ghanaian winner.
Presenting the prizes, the country Manager of the Air Cote d’Ivoire Madam Michelline Yahot said because the event is a good initiative when the organizers approached them for sponsorship they did not hesitate.
She congratulated the winners for taking part in the keenly contested competition which seeks to promote African culture and commended the organizers for their effort to promote healthy traditional dishes to enhance a healthy life style in African.
Madam Yahot expressed satisfaction over the success of the program and promised her company’s readiness to sponsor the event in the coming years.
In an interview after the presentation, Jamilatu said it has been her desire to win the contest because she has loved cooking from her infancy.
She said one of her lecturers informed her that a cooking contest was going to take place and according to her she quickly contacted the organizers to register.
Jamilatu , who is also a graduate of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration GIMPA, says the competition has helped a lot as it has exposed to how some of the African dishes are prepared . learn from them.
She hopes to become an ambassador to promote various dishes in the Northern part of the country across the continent.
On his part the General Manager of the Winners Partners Groupe, Mr. Appia Wenseslas, a Pan-African event management and consultancy group in West Africa and organizers of the Troofe Festival said they will make Ghana the hub of African food promotion in Africa.
The biggest African food festival dubbed “The African TROOFE soups fair” brought together participants and patrons from about eight West African countries to be on one common platform where they had the opportunity to taste the healthy African dishes and share cultures.
Operations Manager of Winners Partner Groupe, Mrs Eppromo Edwige stated that the event was an opportunity for all lovers of African dishes she however promised much exciting fair next year.
