A heavily loaded DAF truck with registration number GT6730C somersaulted on Thursday afternoon when its break failed at the King Tackie Tawiah overpass in Accra. The truck which skidded off the road was loaded with two containers of cooking oil being transported from Tema to Accra. Asempa News visited the scene and observed that the truck prevented vehicles from moving as it covered both sides of the road. Eyewitnesses who were at the scene told Asempa News that the break of the truck failed and resulted in the truck veering off the road. Speaking to Aempa FM the driver of the truck, Isaac Senameh who was visibly disturbed by the incident said as he was approaching the King Tackie Tawiah overpass the ‘air pipe’ of the vehicle got torn which and caused the accident. He noted that if he had moved ahead with the failed break, a lot of havoc would have been caused, so he decided to veer off the road. He said he quickly reported at the Nima Police Station wehich was just nearby. No casualty was however recorded even though the driver was advised to visit the hospital as his head hit the windscreen of the truck. One of the two metal containers being conveyed by the truck opened whiles the cooking oil with inscription "tasty tom cooking oil" poured on the road. Source; Asempa/FM
