President John Mahama has stated, he did nothing wrong by emerging winner of the 2012 presidential election as declared by the Electoral Commission.Mr. John Mahama is, therefore, optimistic that the judgment to be delivered by the panel of judges hearing the case at the Supreme Court challenging his declaration as winner, will be in his favour.The president made the comments on Wednesday at Fadama, Accra, while addressing the National Chief Iman, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu.The president visited the Chief Imam ahead of the celebration of the Eid-Ul-Fitr festival to climax the 30 days of fasting in the month of Ramadan.He reiterated his preparedness to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court. "We have no option than to accept the final Supreme Court verdict [judgment]; truth is on my side...I did nothing wrong," the president affirmed.Three leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) - elections 2012 flagbearer; Nana Akufuo-Addo, his running mate; Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and National Chairman; Jake Obtsebi-Lamptey - have petitioned the Supreme Court challenging the EC's declaration of John Mahama as winner of the presidential polls.The Court on Wednesday August 7,2013, heard the submission of oral addresses from counsel for the both petitioners and respondents and is set to pronounce judgment 15 days after the last hearing slated for August 14, 2013.Tony Lithur, Counsel for the president, delivering his oral submission to the Court on Wednesday insists, Mr. Mahama won the election "fairly and squarely".But Counsel for the petitioners, Philip Addison maintained that, they have provided enough evidence in their analysis to prove that indeed the outcome of the December 7 General Election, was affected by the various constitutional and statutory irregularities, violations and malpractices.
