The Trades Union Congress, TUC has reiterated its call for workers to take necessary steps to ensure they are unionized at their various workplaces. According to the Secretary General, Kofi Asamoah, this is the only way the rights and employment-security of Ghanaian workers could be upheld. He spoke to Joy Business during the 9th Quadrennial Delegates Congress in Kumasi. “This is to ensure that majority of the working people in the country get organized under the banner of the Trades Union. The informal economy is over 80 percent and so the ultimate goal is to empower the working force to ensure employment security and increase productivity” he noted. The congress is under the theme “Organizing for Empowerment, Employment Security and Increased Productivity”.
