The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has vowed to resist any attempt to pass the Right to Information bill into law in its current form.
According to the General Secretary of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah, the bill as it stands now does not include some vital proposals that were submitted.
He was addressing the 9th Quadrennial Delegates’ Congress of the TUC in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi. Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur also attended the programme.
Joy FM’s presidential correspondent, Seth Kwame Boateng reported that members of the TUC were disappointed that despite promises of commitment to the passage of the bill, Parliament “is far from performing this fundamental duty…”
Meanwhile Deputy Employment Minister Antwi Boasiako Sekyere told Joy News that government is committed to ensuring the needs of the country’s workers are met.
