Government’s dream to see more Ghanaians equipped with requite skills to derive maximum benefit from the oil and Gas Sector has been given a major boost with the establishment of the Jubilee Technical Training Centre at the Takoradi Polytechnic.Funded by Tullow Oil and the Jubilee partners, the 3.5 million dollar project will be completed in eleven months. It is expected to churn out world class human resource to meet both local and foreign demand in the oil industry.Sod-cutting has been done for construction work to commence on the centre.Chief of Staff at Tullow Ghana, Mr Kofi Esson said the decision to establish the centre was buoyed by a study (commissioned by the Jubilee partners) result which showed that “there was underinvestment in practical training at the technical and vocational level as well as lack of investment in the required equipment and facilities; technical training is largely delivered by watching rather than offering opportunities for practical participation for the students.”He added that Tullow remains committed to building local content for the growing industry.
