Accra-based television station TV3 says it has stripped the winner of the station’s beauty pageant “Ghana’s Most Beautiful” of her crown.
The station said the crown would be transferred from Miss Nasara Abdul Rauf, who won the competition to Miss Lamisi Sam Awinongya, the first runner-up.
In a press statement released by TV3 and signed by its Chief Executive Syed Ahmad Zaidi, the decision comes “in the light of certain recent revelations, involving the winner of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2009,” and noted the station “is officially parting ways with her.”
”The decision has come after a series of investigations and internal discussions,” the statement said.
“It has not been easy for TV3 to arrive at such a course of action. This has, however, become necessary in order to maintain the integrity of and uphold the noble ideas of the TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful brand.
“Miss Nasara, will, however, retain all the prizes that she received for winning the pageant, including the car.
“TV3 wishes Miss Nasara well in all her future endeavours,” the statement concluded.
