A 12-year-old girl on Monday collapsed after being defiled by a 45-year-old farmer, Mamudu Bawa, at Kotokrom near Sunyani.Police Superintendent Charles Botwe, Sunyani Municipal Commander, told the GNA that during the last farming season Bawa hired the victim and some other people to carry his maize from the farm to his house. But Bawa refused to pay the victim and asked her to come to his house another day for the money but Bawa failed to pay the money that was one Ghana cedi.On September 29 the girl met Bawa returning from farm and asked her to follow him home for the money. He said the girl obliged and when got to the house, Bawa convinced her to wait for him to prepare some food for them to eat after which he will give her the money. When they finished eating Bawa dragged the victim to his room, blindfolded her and sealed her mouth with his shirt to prevent her from shouting.Bawa defiled the girl, gave her one Ghana cedi and warned her not to mention her ordeal to anybody. The girl collapsed close to her house bleeding and was taken to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital where she was admitted. The doctors’ report indicated that the girl’s situation was critical and if she does not receive special treatment her health could be affected in future.Mr Botwe said Bawa has been arrested and would soon be put before court.Source: GNA
